The Southern Massanutten Ultra Trail Run (SMUT Run) is a low-key, difficult ultramarathon on the trails of the southern Massanutten Mountains, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. There are two distances: 50 km and 100 km.

As in the past, SMUT 2011 will be a fat-ass. There will be no ribbons or other course markers, and it is incumbent upon the runner to successfully navigate the course based on maps and turn-sheets. Also, aid may be limited. If you can’t read a map/turn-sheet and object to drinking from streams, then SMUT is not the run for you (read the FAQs).
